TOWSON, Md. - St. Olaf senior women's golfer Vanessa Kleckner was named
to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Division III Women's At-Large
third team on Tuesday, as selected by the College Sports Information
Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Kleckner was one of five golfers on the three Academic All-America At-Large
Division III women's teams and one of two from Minnesota Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (MIAC) institutions on any of the six men's or women's
teams.
Kleckner posted a 3.98 GPA with majors in biology and mathematics and a
concentration in biomedical studies. In October, she won the individual title
at the MIAC's to lead the Oles to the first team championship in school
history. This year, she had five top 20 finishes in the eight events she
participated.
The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) vote on the
awards. CoSIDA began this program in the 1950's, and since then, has honored
thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports and across all
divisions with these elite Capital One Academic All-America scholar-athlete
honors. Currently, CoSIDA honors Academic All-Americans in 12 sports.

- Men's and Women's Ice Hockey

- Men's and Women's Tennis
- Men's Volleyball
- Men's and Women's Water Polo
- Men's Wrestling
Voting for Academic All-District (First, Second and possible Third Team
members are named) is done by current CoSIDA members. Those who obtain First
Team All-District status move onto the national Academic All-America ballot.
