NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Senior
Stephen Peper recorded a top-five result in the country in the high jump as the St. Olaf College men's track and field team won eight events at the Tostrud Classic on Saturday at Tostrud Center.
Peper set a new personal-best in the high jump by clearing 2.06 meters (6' 9") on his first attempt on his way to winning the event. The clearance is the highest in the MIAC, is tied for fifth in the country this season, and ranks fifth in program history in the event.
Senior
Reuben Kosche logged the MIAC's third-fastest time in the 1,000-meter run this season by clocking in at 2:30.32 to win the event by nearly six seconds over teammate
Henrik Gilbertson. Kosche's time also saw him move into eighth place on St. Olaf's all-time list in the event.
First year
Dylan Arnold added a pair of event victories for the Oles, sprinting to a win in the 60-meter dash in 7.26 seconds and vaulting to a victory in the pole vault by clearing 4.46 meters (14' 7 ½").
Junior
Arne Ellefson-Carnes and first year
Andrew Skemp won events on the track, with Ellefson-Carnes winning the 3,000-meter run in 8:48.20 and Skemp leading the field of four Oles in the 5,000-meter run (15:13.90). Ellefson's time was over 11 seconds better than his seed time, while Skemp's time ranks sixth in the MIAC this season.
In the throws, first years
Cade Feist and
Trevor Christensen each recorded first-place finishes as well. Feist won the shot put with a personal-best throw of 13.33 meters (43' 9"), while Christensen claimed the weight throw with a throw of 14.20 meters (46' 7 ¼").
The meet was St. Olaf's final preparation for the MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, which begin on Thursday, Feb. 24 at Carleton.
