NORTHFIELD, Minn. – For the third meet in a row, junior
Annika Muller broke the school record in the triple jump as the St. Olaf College women's track and field team competed at the unscored St. Olaf Women's Invitational on Friday evening at Tostrud Center.
Muller re-broke her own school record by four inches with a jump of 11.40 meters (37' 5") to win the event by nearly two feet. The jump was the best in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this season and ranks 25th in the country.
The win in the triple jump was one of two event victories for Muller, who also won the long jump with a mark of 5.26 meters (17' 3 ¼"). As a team, St. Olaf won nine events in the meet in its final preparation for the MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Junior
Teresa Pettitt-Kenney bettered her own fourth-best clearance in program history in the pole vault, clearing 3.38 meters (11'1 1") to win the event. The clearance also ranks third in the MIAC this season.
Sophomores
Aleah Keske and
Sam Hedtke went 1-2 in the shot put, with Keske winning the event with a throw of 12.19 meters (40') and Hedtke improving her seventh-best mark in program history in second with a mark of 12.15 meters (39' 10 ½").
St. Olaf got a 1-2-3 finish from sophomore
Katie Gebert, senior
Samantha Posey, and sophomore
Sophie Call in the mile. Gebert led the wat in 5:14.59, followed by Posey in 5:20.84, and Call in 5:22.06.
Junior
Rebekah Salfer won the 60-meter hurdles by over two-tenths of a second with a finals time of 9.41 seconds, while sophomore
Bella Call won the 800-meter run by over three seconds in 2:24.06.
The other two event wins for the Oles came from junior
Christine Albrecht in the 1,000-meter run (3:04.06) and the 4x200-meter relay of sophomore
Karla Kroschel, first year
Emma Storbakken, Pettitt-Kenney, and junior
Clare Collins.
The 2022 MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships get under way on Thursday, Feb. 24 at Carleton.
