Parker, Seaton win events for women's track and field at Gopher Classic

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Sophomores Ainslee Parker and Ali Seaton won events for the St. Olaf College women's track and field team at the University of Minnesota's Gopher Classic on Saturday.

Seaton posted the third-fastest time in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this season in the 800-meter run, winning the event in 2:21.59. Parker won the triple jump with a jump of 10.75 meters (35' 3 ¼"), falling just shy of her personal-best mark of 10.77 meters (35' 4") from a week ago.

Fellow sophomores Bella Call and Katie Gebert joined Seaton in posting top-seven times in the MIAC this season in the 800-meter run. Call finished third (2:23.69) with the fifth-fastest time in the conference, while Gebert was seventh (2:25.25) with the seventh-fastest time in the MIAC.

St. Olaf also had three top-six times in the MIAC in the 3,000-meter run, led by sophomore Sophie Call's time of 10:29.58, which ranks third in the conference. Call's time was good for fifth in the meet behind four NCAA Division I runners. She was followed closely by first year Sofia Carlson in sixth (10:30.72) and first year Alison Bode in seventh (10:31.27), whose times rank fourth and sixth in the MIAC this winter.

Junior Rebekah Salfer posted a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (9.46) and her time of 9.44 seconds ranks fourth in the conference.

In the pole vault, junior Teresa Pettitt-Kenney and sophomore Melanie Roberts both cleared 3.17 meters (10' 3 ¾") to move up one spot to sixth on St. Olaf's all-time list in the event. The clearance puts the two in a tie for fifth this season in the conference.

St. Olaf also had a pair of top-10 throws in program history in the shot put from sophomores Aleah Keske and Sam Hedtke. Keske broke into the top 10 at number six with a throw of 12.39 meters (40' 7 ¾"), while Hedtke slotted into seventh place with a throw of 12.09 meters (39' 8"). Those throws rank fifth and sixth, respectively, in the MIAC.

The Oles compete at the UW-Stout Quad in Menomonie, Wis. on Friday, Feb. 11 at 4 p.m.
