Logan Bocovich and first year
Andrew Skemp finished second and third in the 10,000-meter run to highlight the St. Olaf College men's track and field team's performances on the first day of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at Saint Mary's Track & Field Complex.
Bocovich led for most of the 10k before Carleton's Stephen Lavey made a move towards the end of the race and went on to win the event in 30:58.53. Bocovich was less than four seconds behind in 31:02.33 and Skemp was third with a personal-best time of 31:17.29. The top-three finishes earned Bocovich and Skemp All-MIAC honors in the event.
Skemp's time in the 10k saw him move onto St. Olaf's all-time top-10 list in 10th place. Bocovich and Skemp were two of four Oles to score in the event, as sophomore
David Lynn was seventh (31:48.94) and junior
Kevin Montresor was eighth (32:28.28). The top-five finishers in the 10k all broke the previous facility record set in 2015.
St. Olaf is in second place in the team standings after the first day with 38 points. Saint John's is 24 points clear of the Oles with 62 points, while Carleton is six points back in third position. Friday's opening day included the finals in six events.

Julian Munoz, and sophomore
Gabe Estrada posted a runner-up finish in 7:46.41, trailing only Saint John's time of 7:44.56. The quartet earned Honorable Mention All-MIAC honors with the second-place performance and posted the ninth-best time in program history in the event.
First year
Cade Feist and junior
Andrew Mollison also recorded honorable mention showings in the shot put with their top-six finishes. Feist took fourth (14.49m) and Mollison was sixth (14.21m) to put eight points on the board for the Oles in the event.
Other scorers for St. Olaf were junior
Lucas Kramarczuk in the long jump (seventh, 6.55m) and senior
Nick Edwards (seventh, 47.48m) and sophomore
Woody Rian (eighth, 47.21m) in the javelin throw. Edwards and Rian both had personal-best throws in the javelin.
In addition to the six event finals, Friday's schedule included prelims in several events and nine Oles qualified for Saturday's finals in five different events.
