MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Senior
Demetri Lord of the St. Olaf College men's track and field team was fourth in the heptathlon at the M City Indoor Classic on Friday and Saturday at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse.
In his first multi of the season, Lord was 58 points shy of his personal-best heptathlon score after compiling 4,726 points. The senior was in the top four in five of the seven events, including setting a personal best in the high jump by clearing 1.86 meters (6' 1 ¼").
On Friday, Lord was third in the 60-meter dash (7.18) and tied for fourth in the high jump to sit third through four events with 2,639 points. Lord placed in the top four in all three of Saturday's events, including a runner-up finish in the 1,000-meter run in 2:52.95, which was just one second off of his personal-best effort in the final event.
Senior
Jack Fochtman was the only other Ole to compete in the meet, placing 12th in the 400-meter dash (55.44).
St. Olaf is next in action at the Bearson/Gathje Classic at Minnesota State University in Mankato on Friday, Jan. 12.
