PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The St. Olaf College men's and women's track and field teams sent small contingents of competitors to complete in the 5,000-meter run at the UW-Platteville Invitational on Friday evening at UW-Platteville Track and Field Complex.
Juniors
Sofia Carlson and
Alison Bode recorded top-20 finishes while serving as the lone representatives for the St. Olaf women's team, while first year
Kevin Turlington paced the performances by seven members of the men's team.
Carlson placed seventh in the field of 92 runners on the women's side with a time of 17:04.03, which was less than seven seconds off the pace of her All-America finish at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships last month and ranks 14th in the country and third in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Bode added a 20th-place performance in 17:42.62, which sits fifth in the conference.
Turlington and sophomore
Andrew Skemp both cracked the 15-minute threshold for the St. Olaf men, as Turlington was 45th (14:59.53) and Skemp was 48th (14:59.86) in the field of 138 runners. Sophomore
Olaf Coffey broke his previous personal-best time by nearly 30 seconds with a 63rd-place finish (15:09.67), while senior
Kevin Montresor also established a new PR of 15:20.88 to finish 89th.
