NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The St. Olaf College men's and women's track and field teams combined to win eight events on the track in the unscored Ole Opener on Saturday at Tostrud Center.
Five Oles posted first-place finishes for the St. Olaf men, while two individuals and one relay claimed event wins for the Ole women. No team scores were kept at the meet, which included Bethany Lutheran College, Carleton College, Concordia University-St. Paul, Crown College, Luther College, Martin Luther College, and Southwest Minnesota State University.
Sophomore
Isabel Wyatt recorded the fastest time in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this season in the 1,000-meter run by winning the event in 2:58.71, which moved the sophomore into fifth on St. Olaf's all-time list in the event. Sophomore
Lauren Walda – the reigning MIAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week – clocked in with the conference's top time in the one-mile run and posted a top-40 national time in the event with a first-place time of 5:12.77.

Riki Poore ran to a first-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:16.88. Senior
Peyton Irsfeld was the top NCAA Division III finisher in the weight throw and bettered her seventh-best standing in program history with a fifth-place mark of 13.43 meters (44' ¾").
Sophomore
Kevin Turlington recorded the second-fastest time in the one-mile run in the MIAC this season, winning the event in 4:18.30, which ranks just outside the top-30 times in the country. Junior
Jackson Marsh picked up a first-place finish in the 1,000-meter run (2:36.51), while senior
Ian Curtis posted a top-50 time in the country in the 3,000-meter run with a winning time of 8:38.71.

Jakob Baatrup-Sabo added wins in the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run with times of 52.29 seconds and 2:01.15, respectively.
The Oles are back at home for the St. Olaf Invitational and Multi on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 26-27. The women's pentathlon and first four events of the men's heptathlon will be held on Friday, followed by the remainder of the heptathlon and the rest of the meet on Saturday.
