LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – The St. Olaf College women's Nordic skiing team backed up its first-place finish in the 7.5K Freestyle with another one in the Classic Sprint, while the men placed seventh on day two of the U.S. Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) National Championships on Wednesday at Mt. Van Hoevenberg.

Amae Kam-Magruder and junior
Lily Hubanks recorded a 4-5 finish for the St. Olaf women, who finished 15 points ahead of Paul Smith's College atop the 12-team standings. Senior
Julia Everest and sophomore
Hjelle Personius joined Kam-Magruder and Hubanks in earning USCSA All-America honors with their top-15 finishes, while first year
Wesley Sumner did so for the men's team.
Kam-Magruder, Hubanks, Everest, and Personius started the day by qualifying for the quarterfinals with top-30 finishes in the qualifier. Everest went on to finish third in her quarterfinal (4:25.1) to place 13th, while Personius was third in her quarterfinal (4:16.1) to take 15th. The All-America accolade was the first of Personius' career, while Everest earned her eighth.
Kam-Magruder won her quarterfinal (4:10.8) and Hubanks was second in hers (4:11.3) to advance to the semifinals. Kam-Magruder booked her spot in the A Final with a second-place finish in the second semifinal (4:07.6). Hubanks got a lucky-loser spot into the A Final after placing third in the same semifinal as Kam-Magruder with a time of 4:12.1.
In the six-member A Final, Kam-Magruder crossed the line in fourth (4:06.4) and Hubanks did so in fifth (4:09.7). Despite seeing her remarkable run of five consecutive USCSA individual titles come to an end, Hubanks collected her eighth USCSA All-America honor, while Kam-Magruder made it two in as many days to start her career.
Sumner was the lone Ole to qualify for the quarterfinals on the men's side, grabbing the final qualifying spot with a 30th-place time (3:26.3) in the qualifier. The first year went on to place 15th overall after finishing third in his quarterfinal (3:21.0). Sophomores
Felix Taracena and
Tait Myers concluded the day in 31st and 32nd places, respectively.
After an off day on Thursday, March 7, the USCSA National Championships resume with the 15K Classic on Friday, March 8.
