NEW ORLEANS, La. – The St. Olaf College men's and women's cross country teams came in at No. 22 and No. 26, respectively, in this week's NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Cross Country National Coaches' Polls, as announced on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Both St. Olaf teams dropped down the national polls but maintained their lengthy streaks in the polls following Friday's Blugold Invitational. The Ole men ran their streak in the national rankings to 63 consecutive polls, while the women moved theirs to 45.
Despite being short one of its top runners due to injury, the St. Olaf men finished fifth in a field that included six nationally-ranked teams on Friday in Colfax, Wis., led by a fourth-place finish by senior
Kevin Turlington. Senior
Lauren Walda placed third to lead the way for the Ole women, who were sixth in a field that saw 70 points separate the top-six teams.
Both teams will be off this coming weekend before splitting their teams between the Haunted Hustle on the Hill and Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 18.
