Three from women's soccer picked to United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region Teams

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Three members of the St. Olaf College women's soccer team were named to the 2025 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Women's Scholar All-North/Central Region Teams, as announced on Wednesday.

Senior Katie Beaudry was a first-team selection, while senior Cat Duffy-Shaw and junior Emily Johnson were second-team honorees, to give St. Olaf three honorees for the first time ever. The Oles' three selections were tied for the most of any institution in the regions with Calvin University and UW-La Crosse.

In order to be eligible for the accolade, a student-athlete must be nominated by their head coach and meet the following minimum criteria: play for a current United Soccer Coaches College Services member, be a junior or above in athletic standing, have at least a 3.40 cumulative grade-point average (GPA), play a minimum of 75 percent of their team's games during the season, by an elite player as supported by playing honors (All-American, All-Region, etc.), and meet the highest standards of ethics and sportsmanship as confirmed by their coach.

A chemistry major with a 3.91 cumulative GPA, Beaudry was a United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-Region IX honoree and the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Defensive Player of the Year in her senior season. One of five multiple-time all-region honorees in program history, Beaudry helped St. Olaf limit its opponents to 11 goals in 20 games for a program-record 0.55 goals-against average while adding one goal and five assists from her spot at center back.

Johnson joined Beaudry as a United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-Region IX and All-MIAC selection after compiling 15 goals and three assists for 33 points in 19 games. Another two-time all-region pick, Johnson, a physics major with a 3.89 cumulative GPA, posted the third-highest single-season points and goals totals in recorded program history this fall.

The first three-time United Soccer Coaches All-Region selection in program history, Duffy-Shaw concluded her record-setting career with two goals and a program-record nine assists for 13 points while starting all 20 of St. Olaf's games. A biology major with a 3.80 cumulative GPA, Duffy-Shaw wrapped up her career with six goals and a program-record 23 assists while starting all 71 of her games played.

For the second season in a row, St. Olaf set a single-season program record for wins, finishing 15-3-2 in its second season under head coach Molly Fiedler. The Oles went a program-best 8-1-2 in the MIAC and advanced to the semifinals of the MIAC Playoffs.
