MENOMONIE, Wis. – The St. Olaf College men's and women's track and field teams continued their preparations for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships by competing at the UW-Stout Quad on Friday evening at the Sports & Fitness Center.
St. Olaf's mid-distance and distance runners combined for 12 top-five finishes at the unscored meet, which included UW-Stout, UW-Eau Claire, and Bethel University. Junior
Cullen Moore set the meet record in the 800-meter run by 14 one-hundredths of a second with a winning time of 1:56.26 to highlight the Oles' performances.
Moore led eight Oles in the top nine in the men's 800-meter run, with senior
Sean Hartney (1:56.87), first year
Jackson Bullock (1:57.17), and first year
Austin McInturff (1:57.37) finishing 2-4 within just over a second of Moore. Moore and McInturff were also part of St. Olaf's first-place 4x400-meter relay (3:28.46) along with junior
Lance Nemecek and sophomore
Christian Fells.
Senior
Sean Hartney ran the MIAC's fourth-fastest time in the one-mile run this season by clocking in at 4:13.66 to finish second.
Junior
Molly Kate McCloskey led the field of four Oles in the women's 3,000-meter run with a first-place time of 11:12.55. Senior
Sophie Abernethy was the runner-up in the one-mile run in 5:14.68, which ranks fifth in the conference this season.
Senior Julies Fromm and sophomore
Molly DiNardo both placed in the top four in the 800-meter run, with Fromm taking third in 2:19.29 and DiNardo fourth in 2:23.16. Fromm's time is the third-fastest in the MIAC to date.
St. Olaf will host the Tostrud Classic on Friday, Feb. 21 in its final meet before the MIAC Indoor Championships. Field events will begin at 5 p.m. and track events will start at 6 p.m.
