Claire Keech and sophomore
Aubree Klein of the St. Olaf College women's track and field team began the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships by placing ninth and 16th, respectively, in the pentathlon on Thursday at The Donald McNeely Spectrum.
Keech finished ninth with 2,552 points, while Klein was 16th with 1,718 points in the five-event competition that kicked off the indoor conference meet. Keech recorded a personal-best time (10.23) in the 60-meter hurdles to open the day and finished fifth in the shot put (9.99m, 32' 9 ½") for the top placement of the day for either Ole.
Klein's top results were 11th-place showings in the 60-meter hurdles (10.70) and 800-meter run (2:47.92).
Field events will begin at 4 p.m. and track events at 4:30 p.m. on day two of the MIAC Indoor Championships on Friday, Feb. 28.
