BEND, Ore. – The St. Olaf College men's and women's alpine skiing teams finished seventh and 13th, respectively, in the slalom at the U.S. Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) National Championships on Thursday at Mt. Bachelor.
Senior
Graham Barwick posted his second top-20 individual finish of the week to lead the St. Olaf men to seventh in the team standings (4:34.16), while the women's team took 13th (5:21.16) out of the 27 teams.
Barwick recorded two top-20 runs on his way to placing 17th (1:28.48) to finish two spots outside of the All-America positions. Junior
Wyatt Shultz broke into the top 30 on his second run and finished 27th (1:30.82), while first year
Austin Mjanger (45th, 1:34.86) and junior
Kerem Haymana (47th, 1:34.95) were also in the top 50.
For the second time in a row on the week, senior
Kate Young was the top finisher for the women's team by registering a 40th-place finish (1:44.55). Juniors
Jessica Stanton and
Sophia Gonzalez rounded out the Oles' three counting times in 48th (1:47.19) and 59th (1:49.42), respectively.
The USCSA National Championships will conclude with the dual slalom on Saturday, March 15.
