SARTELL, Minn. – The St. Olaf College women's golf team started its season with an eighth-place finish at the CSB Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at Blackberry Ridge Golf Club.
Led by sophomore
Anneliese Carlson, St. Olaf finished eighth in the 13-team field with a 36-hole total of 675 (+99). After shooting a 347 (+59) on Saturday, the Oles improved by 19 strokes on Sunday with a 328 (+40).
Carlson was St. Olaf's top finisher in 22nd place with a total of 164 (+20). The sophomore opened with an 84 (+12) on Saturday before shaving off four strokes on Sunday with an 80 (+8). Junior
Marit Lyle fired the low round of the weekend for the Oles with a 79 (+7) on Sunday and finished in a tie for 34th (169, +25).
In her collegiate debut, first year
Addison Powers posted matching scores of 86 (+14) to tie for 39th.
St. Olaf will compete at the D3 Central Region Preview on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 6-7 at Bellwood Oaks Golf Club in Hastings and Legacy Golf in Faribault.
