Six Oles qualify for NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Six members of the St. Olaf College men's and women's track and field teams qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships, as announced on Sunday evening.

Senior Cullen Moore, senior Lance Nemecek, junior Christian Fells, and first year Paxon Myers all will compete in the men's 800-meter run, while senior Isabel Wyatt will race in the women's 800. Senior Kevin Turlington also qualified in the 5,000-meter run.
For each individual event, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the championships, which will be held on Friday and Saturday, March 13-14 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.

St. Olaf's four qualifiers in the 800-meter run are the most qualifiers the men's program has had in a single indoor event and are the first four Ole qualifiers in the event since Mark Bresnan in 2001. Moore is the No. 10 seed (1:51.18), followed by Nemecek as the No. 13 seed (1:51.47), Fells as the No. 17 seed (1:51.95), and Myers as the No. 18 seed (1:51.99). The prelims of the men's 800 will be run at 4 p.m. on Friday, followed by the finals at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Turlington qualified in the 5,000-meter run for the second season in a row, securing the No. 9 seed (14:11.17) after finishing 11th in the event last season indoors. He also placed 11th in the event outdoors a year ago. St. Olaf has had an indoor 5K qualifier in each of the last four seasons. The men's 5K will be contested at 5:05 p.m. on Friday.

Wyatt earned a spot at the national indoor meet for the second season in a row in the 800-meter run and is tied for the No. 9 seed (2:11.10) in the event. The senior was a national qualifier in the event indoors (9th) and outdoors (19th) last year and is the second Ole to be a multiple-time indoor national qualifier, joining Megan (Daymont) Thomas (2000, 2002, 2003). Wyatt will race in the prelims at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, with the final to follow at 4:50 p.m.on Saturday.
