PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Eight members of the St. Olaf College men's track and field team all set personal-best times in the 5,000-meter run at the UW-Platteville Invitational on Friday evening at UW-Platteville Track & Field Complex.
Senior
Kevin Turlington highlighted the night of PRs for the Oles by finishing third overall in the field of 343 finishers across 11 sections in 14:01.93, which was less than one second behind the school record of 14:01.17 set by Logan Bocovich '23 in 2023. The senior's time was a near 10-second PR, a top-50 performance in NCAA Division III history, and made him a top-40 performer in the event in NCAA Division III history, according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) all-time listings.
In addition to Turlington's performance, sophomore
Cooper Gundersen, junior
Quinn McCabe, and seniors
Eli Doran,
Jonathan Pattie,
Parker Max,
Jack Deaver, and
Gael Manzur Strandlund all set new personal-bests in the event. Manzur Strandlund was 61st overall and 12th in his section in 14:42.76, while Deaver took 65th overall and ninth in his section in 14:44.17.
Max crossed the line in third in his section and concluded the night 80th overall (14:49.11), while McCabe improved by over 16 seconds from his time from the WashU Distance Carnival two weeks ago by clocking in at 15:11.94 to place 156th. Pattie (162nd, 15:13.18), Doran (167th, 15:15.33), and Gundersen (219th, 15:29.82) rounded out the Oles' performances.
