Brendan Steinhofer represented the St. Olaf College men's track and field team in the first five events of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Decathlon on Thursday at Laird Stadium.
Olson racked up 2,959 points to sit ninth in the field of 17 competitors, while Steinhofer compiled 2,282 points to finish the day in 15th in the first decathlon of his career.
Olson had two top-five finishes and two personal-best results out of the five events while ending the day 36 points out of the scoring spots. The junior was fifth in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 6.10 meters (20' 0 ¼") and fourth in the high jump by clearing 1.74 meters (5' 8 ½"), while posting a personal-best time of 11.77 seconds in the 100-meter dash.
Steinhofer's best finish of the day came in the 400-meter run to close out the day, as the first year was 12th (56.29).
The final day of the 10-event competition will start with the 110-meter hurdles at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 1.
