Dove, women's golf set/tie program records at CSB Invite

SARTELL, Minn. – First year Sarah Dove and the St. Olaf College women's golf team posted the lowest individual round and lowest team round in recorded program history as part of the Oles' third-place finish at the season-opening CSB Invite on Saturday and Sunday at Blackberry Ridge Golf Club.

Dove shot the second under-par round in recorded program history to tie the low round in program history with a first-round 71 (-1), as St. Olaf opened the season with a 307 (+19) to break the previous team record of 309 set in the first round of the 2011 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Championships. The Oles finished third in the 11-team field with a 36-hole team score of 629 (+53).

In her first collegiate round, Dove stormed out of the gate with three birdies on the first four holes as part of a three-under 33 on the front nine. The first year's one-under 71 on Saturday tied the single-round record of soon-to-be Hall of Famer Molly Erickson '13 set in the first round of the Division III Classic on Sept. 15, 2012. Dove had the lead on Sunday before a triple bogey on the 14th hole and settled for a tie for third (152, +8) in the 66-golfer field.

Fellow first year Aliyah Kleven was in third place after a 74 (+2) to start her career on Saturday before tying for sixth (153, +9) after a 79 (+7) on Sunday. Kleven strung together birdies on holes 11, 12, and 13 on Saturday and finished the weekend in the top three in par-five scoring (E) and par-three scoring (E).

Amita Crowley, another first year, posted St. Olaf's third-best score of the weekend by tying for 16th (160, +16) with rounds of 81 (+9) and 79 (+7). Junior Anneliese Carlson was also in the top 20 in a tie for 20th (164, +20) and was second in the field in par-three scoring (-1).

St. Olaf will compete at the D3 Classic on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12-13 at Emerald Greens in Hastings.
