MANKATO, Minn. – The St. Olaf College men's and women's track and field teams began their indoor seasons by winning six events at the Chuck Petersen Open on Saturday at Myers Field House on the campus of Minnesota State University.
All six of the first-place finishes for St. Olaf came in distance events, as the men's and women's teams won three events apiece. The Ole women compiled 71 points in the seven-team standings to finish second, while the men were also second of six teams with 64 points.
Sophomore
Alex Bittner, junior
Sean Hartney, and senior
Anders Cote were the event winners for the St. Olaf men. Bittner crossed the line first in the 800-mter run (2:00.12), Hartney won the 3,000-meter run (8:39.67), and Cote was first in the 5,000-meter run (15:13.21).
Sophomore
Abbie Manhard made it a sweep of the 800-meter run titles for the Oles with a winning time of 2:30.71, while junior
Alison Bode matched Cote's win in the 5,000-meter run with a first-place time of 18:41.20. Senior
Katie Gebert added a win in the one-mile run (5:14.51).
Both St. Olaf teams head to the Icebreaker Open at the University of Minnesota on Friday, Dec. 8.
