LA CROSSE, Wis. – Eight members of the St. Olaf College men's track and field team took part in the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier on Saturday at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
St. Olaf had six student-athletes run in track events and two more compete in field events in their final opportunities to record qualifying marks/times for next week's NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. None of the eight Oles posted times/marks that rank in the top 22 nationally, which is the cutoff for qualification.
Senior
Lucas Kramarczuk – the newly-minted Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Men's Field Athlete of the Year – entered the day ranked 18th nationally in the 110-meter hurdles (14.40) and hoped to better his time to move up the list. In the prelims, the senior clocked in at 14.53 seconds to earn a spot in the finals, where he improved to 14.45 seconds – the third-fastest time of his career – to place second.
Sophomore
Cade Feist took part in both the shot put and hammer throw, placing third in the shot put with a throw of 15.15 meters (49' 8 ½"), which was three centimeters shy of his outdoor PR. Feist was also 20th in the hammer throw (40.52m, 132' 11"). First year
Ryan Edelman also competed in a pair of throwing events, taking seventh in the discus throw (42.28m, 138' 8") and 19th in the hammer throw (41.19m, 135' 1").
First year
Sebastian Loder ran to an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter dash (49.97), while two Oles were in action in the 800-meter run and the 1,500-meter run. Junior
Gabe Estrada fell just two-hundredths of a second shy of his PR in the 800-meter run in 10th (1:47.14) and first year
Cullen Moore was 23rd (2:02.24). In the 1,500-meter run, sophomore
Sean Hartney placed 11th (3:57.63) and was less than half a second behind his personal-best time, while senior
Julian Munoz was 16th (4:00.33).
