WAVERLY, Iowa – The St. Olaf College men's track and field team's distance medley relay placed 10th of 16 teams at the Wartburg Final Qualifier on Friday evening at Hoover Field House & Indoor Track.
In its final attempt at posting a national-qualifying time, St. Olaf's quartet of sophomore
Ignatius Fitzgerald, senior
Henry Fisher, sophomore
Cullen Moore, and sophomore
Kevin Turlington finished 10th with a time of 10:10.58. Entering the night, the final national-qualifying time in the country was 9:54.39.
Despite missing out on a qualifying time, Fitzgerald, Fisher, Moore, and Turlington's time ranks fifth on St. Olaf's all-time list. Fitzgerald and Fisher were both part of the Oles' Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) championship in the event last week.
The qualifiers for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships will be announced on Sunday, March 3 via a press release on NCAA.com. The meet will be held Friday and Saturday, March 8-9 in Virginia Beach, Va.
