PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The St. Olaf College men's track and field team competed at the unscored UW-Platteville Invitational on Friday night and Saturday at UW-Platteville Track & Field Complex.
Senior
David Lynn cracked St. Olaf's all-time top-10 list in the 5,000-meter run on Friday night to highlight the meet for the Oles. The meet included several programs from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) and American Rivers Conference (A-R-C), among others.
Lynn finished 29th in the 5,000-meter run on Friday evening, with his time of 14:38.18 moving him into 10th place on St. Olaf's all-time list in the event. The time is also the second-fastest in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this season, trailing only senior
Will Kelly's time of 14:29.43 at the WashU Distance Carnival earlier this spring.
Junior
Sean Hartney turned in St. Olaf's top placement of the meet with a fifth-place performance in the 1,500-meter run (3:56.95) to lead a quartet of Oles in the top 11. Senior
Gabe Estrada was eighth (3:58.48), senior
Ian Curtis took 10th (3:59.44), and junior
Olaf Coffey finished 11th (3:59.77). Hartney and Estrada's times were the fastest of their collegiate careers to date.
First year
Max Albertson added an 11th-place showing in the long jump with a mark of 6.64 meters (21' 9 ½"), while first year
Charlie Iyegha was eighth in the javelin throw with a mark of 48.75 meters (159' 11").
Next weekend, St. Olaf will send a group of runners to compete in the 10,000-meter run at the Phil Esten Challenge at UW-La Crosse on Friday, April 19 before heading across town for the Carleton Relays on Saturday, April 20.
