Track and field teams win 10 events at Saint John's

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The St. Olaf College men's and women's track and field teams won 10 events at the CSB/SJU Quad on Friday evening at The Donald McNelly Spectrum on the campus of Saint John's University.

Led by a pair of first-places finishes in the jumps by sophomore Max Albertson, the St. Olaf men picked up seven event victories, while the women added three more on the track. The teams also produced five performances that landed on the programs' all-time top-10 lists at the meet, which included the women's teams from St. Cloud State University and Bemidji State University, Saint John's and Saint Ben's, and men's throwers from Hamline University.

Albertson logged the top jumps of the evening in the long jump (6.96m, 22' 10") and triple jump (13.65m, 44' 9 ½") with those marks ranking first and second, respectively, in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this season. Albertson's long jump mark moved him up to third on St. Olaf's all-time list, while his result in the triple jump saw him crack the top 10 in ninth.

First year Cristian Escobar Pearson vaulted up to second on the Oles' all-time list in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.08 seconds in both the prelims and finals to win the event. The all-first-year quartet of Gavin Vogel, Jackson Bullock, Austin McInturff, and Jakob Eenigenburg posted the day's top time in the 4x400-meter relay (3:32.60).

First year Kale Kardonsky won the shot put with a throw of 15.32 meters (50' 3 ¼"), which ranks ninth on St. Olaf's program list. Sophomores Ethan Cozine and Henry Johnson added first-place finishes in the 1,000-meter run (2:38.53) and 800-meter run (2:03.71), respectively.

In her first race of the season coming off an All-America cross country season, senior Alison Bode took first in the 3,000-meter run (10:29.37). Sophomore Molly DiNardo won the 1,000-meter run (3:07.92) and classmate Izzi Jaeckle won the 400-meter dash (1:02.10) as well. Senior Emma Storbakken moved up to sixth on the Oles' all-time list in the 200-meter dash with a runner-up time of 27.03 seconds.

Both teams will head to the University of Minnesota for the Gopher Classic on Saturday, Feb. 8.
