NORTHFIELD, Minn. – In its first of two home meets this month, the St. Olaf College men's track and field team won five events at the Ole Opener on Friday evening at Tostrud Center.
Senior
Lucas Kramarczuk led St. Olaf with first-place finishes in the 60-meter hurdles and long jump, while sophomore
Andrew Cogley, sophomore
Layton Borst, and sophomore
Cade Feist also won events for the Oles. The meet was unscored and included Carleton College, Bethany Lutheran College, and Luther College.
After breaking his own school record in the event last month, Kramarczuk won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.40 seconds ahead of junior
Demetri Lord in second (8.60). Lord's time of 8.60 ranks second to Kramarczuk in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this season.
Kramarczuk led a 1-2-3 finish for St. Olaf in the long jump by winning the event with a mark of 6.52 meters (21' 4 ¾"), which ranks second in the conference this season. Cogley posted the MIAC's second-highest clearance in the high jump this season, winning the event by clearing 1.75 meters (5' 8 ¾").
Borst added a first-place finish in the pole vault (3.65m, 11' 11 ¾"), while Feist had the top throw in the shot put (13.99m, 45' 10 ¾"), which is the top mark in the MIAC to date this winter. Feist's win paced a 1-2-3 finish for St. Olaf in the shot put.
Feist also logged the MIAC's top throw in the weight throw so far, finishing as the runner-up with a mark of 13.50 meters (44' 3 ½") for one of five second-place results for the Oles. Sophomore
Devin McNearny was second in the 200-meter dash (23.87), sophomore
Jackson Marsh took second in the 1,000-meter run (2:42.42), and senior
Sean Souksavath placed second in the triple jump (12.46m, 40' 10 ½"). Marsh and Souksavath's results currently rank second in the MIAC.
Junior
Anders Cote and first year
Kevin Turlington recorded top-four times in the conference in the 3,000-meter run. Cote placed third in 8:47.67, which ranks second in the MIAC and No. 22 in the country, while Turlington was fifth in 8:53.52, which is fourth in the conference.
St. Olaf heads to Macalester College in St. Paul for the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic on Saturday, Jan. 21.
