Feist, Kramarczuk win titles, Oles finish third at MIAC Indoor Championships

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Senior Lucas Kramarczuk and sophomore Cade Feist recorded event wins for the St. Olaf College men's track and field team on the final day of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday afternoon at the Leonard Center.

After being passed for the lead on the second-to-last jump, Kramarczuk won the triple jump on the final jump of the competition for the first individual conference title of his career. Feist also claimed his first conference title by winning the shot put as part of a 1-2 finish with senior Andrew Mollison.

Kramarczuk and Feist's victories were among six All-MIAC performances on the final day of the meet for St. Olaf, which finished third in the 11-team field with 131.5 points to match its highest team finish at the meet since 2017. The Oles earned 131.5 points in the team standings to finish 10 points behind second-place Saint John's University and 12 points behind team champion Bethel University.

In the triple jump, Kramarczuk held the lead until the final round with a jump of 13.92 meters (45' 8") on his first attempt before Elijah Wade of Saint John's registered a mark of 14.08 meter (46' 2 ½") on his final jump to take the lead. On the final jump of the competition, Kramarczuk bettered Wade's mark with a personal-best jump of 14.37 meters (47' 1 ¾") to become the first Ole to win the event indoors since Todd Nash went back-to-back in the event in 1982-83 and 1983-84.

Kramarczuk is just the third different St. Olaf champion in the event, joining Nash and Fred Van Peenen, who won the event in 1978-79. The mark moved the senior up from fifth to second on St. Olaf's list in the event, as he bettered his runner-up finish from the event a year ago. Senior Sean Souksavath joined Kramarczuk in earning All-MIAC honors in the event with a third-place finish behind a mark of 13.30 meters (43' 7 ¾") on his first attempt.

Feist became just the third St. Olaf champion in the shot put, winning the event on his fourth throw with a mark of 15.63 meters (51' 3 ½"). The throw gave the sophomore his second-straight All-MIAC accolade in the event after Feist was third a year ago, as he joined John Schantzen (2008-09, 2009-10) and Pete Cathcart (2003-04, 2005-06) as St. Olaf champions in the event.

Mollison trailed only Feist on his way to collecting his first All-MIAC honor in the event with a throw of 14.98 meters (49' 1 ¾") on his final throw. The senior's throw also saw him move up one spot from 10th to ninth on St. Olaf's list in the event, while Feist rose from eighth to sixth.

Sophomore Olaf Coffey and junior Will Kelly added runner-up finishes on the day for the Oles. Coffey earned his first All-MIAC honor by placing second in the 1,000-meter run (2:31.56), while Kelly was a runner-up for the second day in a row with a second-place performance in the 3,000-meter run (8:28.65). Kelly's time moved him up two spots from ninth to seventh on St. Olaf's all-time list.

St. Olaf had three Honorable Mention All-MIAC results on the day, including one from sophomore Dylan Arnold in the pole vault after Arnold tied for sixth (4.17m, 13' 8 ¼"). Both St. Olaf relays secured honorable mention honors, as sophomore Devin McNearny, junior Henry Fisher, sophomore Eh Ler Moo, and first year Samuel Gwin were fifth in the 4x200-meter relay (1:32.25) and Fisher, first year Alex Bittner, McNearny, and first year Zach Martin were sixth in the 4x400-meter relay (3:30.11). The 4x200-meter relay time saw the quartet rise from 10th to sixth in program history.

The next event on St. Olaf's schedule is the Wartburg Last Chance Qualifier on Saturday, March 4 in Waverly, Iowa.
