ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Thanks in part to a first-place finish in the 10,000-meter run from senior
Logan Bocovich, the St. Olaf College men's track and field team sat in second place after the opening day of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships held on Friday at Royal Stadium on the campus of Bethel University.
Bocovich led a 1-2-4-5 finish for St. Olaf in the 10,000-meter run by winning the event in 30:52.84 to become the first Ole to win the event since Phil Meyer won back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015. The 1-2-4-5 finish earned the Oles 27 of their 75 points on the opening day, as St. Olaf trailed Saint John's University by four points while opening up a gap of 43 points on the rest of the teams.
Bocovich claimed his first individual conference championship by finishing just under eight seconds ahead of sophomore
Andrew Skemp, who also earned All-MIAC honors with his runner-up finish in 31:00.48. Skemp collected his first All-MIAC accolade, while Bocovich improved on his runner-up performance from a year ago. Junior

Kevin Montresor also placed in the top five to earn Honorable Mention All-MIAC laurels, as Lynn was fourth (31:50.32) and Montresor was fifth (32:17.30).
St. Olaf had three other All-MIAC performances on Friday, including runner-up finishes from first year
Ryan Edelman in the discus throw and senior
Lucas Kramarczuk in the long jump. Edelman picked up All-MIAC honors in just his second conference meet with a mark of 44.81 meters (147' 0"), as the first year was in the top three in the standings in all six rounds. Senior
Arnauld Dedry also scored in the seventh in seventh (39.78m, 130' 6").
Kramarczuk paced three Oles who scored in the long jump, adding a second-place finish outdoors to his runner-up showing indoors. The senior took the lead in the second round with a jump of 6.76 meters (22' 2 ¼") and held onto it until Zach Schaffer of Saint John's won the title with a mark of 6.98 meters (22' 10 ¾") in the fifth round. Eh Ler Moo secured Honorable Mention All-MIAC status in fourth (6.65m, 21' 10"), while classmate
Josh Charlton also scored in eighth (6.37m, 20' 10 ¾").

Cade Feist also scored points for the Oles and picked up Honorable Mention All-MIAC honors, as Turlington was sixth in the 1,500-meter run (3:57.91) and Feist was sixth in the hammer throw (45.99m, 150' 10").
St. Olaf also had five individuals qualify for event finals on Saturday, led by Kramarczuk running the top time in the prelims of the 110-meter hurdles (14.52).
Day two of the meet begins with field events at noon and track events at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 13.
