Kramarczuk 12th nationally in 110-meter hurdles on day two

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Senior Lucas Kramarczuk recorded his second-straight 12th-place national finish in the 110-meter hurdles at the 2023 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at Polisseni Track & Field Complex.

Kramarczuk placed fifth in the third and final heat with a time of 14.57 seconds, falling eight one-hundredths of a second outside the qualifying times for Saturday's final. The senior has placed 12th in each of his three appearances on the national stage in the hurdles, as he was 12th in the 60-meter hurdles indoors earlier this year.

Kramarczuk's time of 14.57 seconds was an improvement of nearly one-tenth of a second from his time of 14.66 seconds a year ago and his 12th-place result was five spots higher than his No. 17 seed. The Bloomington native was the top finisher among the three qualifiers from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). The top finisher in each of the three heats plus the next five fastest times advanced to the final.

The race brought an end to Kramarczuk's career, as he leaves St. Olaf as arguably the top high-hurdler in program history. He is one of just two Oles to be two-time national qualifiers in the 110-meter hurdles, joining Scott Koehler '91, who did so in both 1989 and 1991. Kramarczuk also concludes his career as the program record-holder in the 110-meter hurdles (14.40) and 60-meter hurdles (8.10), while also ranking in the top six in the indoor triple jump (2nd, 14.37m) and the outdoor triple jump (6th, 14.34m).

St. Olaf will have two individuals in action on the final day of the meet on Saturday, May 27. Junior Will Kelly will run in the finals of the 3,00-meter steeplechase at 11:30 a.m. CDT before senior Logan Bocovich will compete in the finals of the 5,000-meter run at 3 p.m. CDT.
