NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The St. Olaf College men's track and field team logged 14 top-two performances at the unscored Carleton Relays on Saturday at Laird Stadium.
Sophomore
Angelo Fiataruolo, junior
Tyler Gunderson, and sophomore
Ignatius Fitzgerald all won events on the track for St. Olaf, which also had 11 runner-up showings at the meet. No team scores were kept at the meet, which included Bethany Lutheran College, Carleton College, Crown College, and the University of Minnesota-Morris.
Fitzgerald posted the second-fastest time in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this season in the 3,000-meter steeplechase by winning the event by over 25 seconds with a time of 9:26.32. The time trails only teammate
Will Kelly in the conference this season and saw the sophomore crack St. Olaf's all-time top-10 list in the event in ninth place. Sophomore
Jack Deaver was the runner-up to Fitzgerald in 9:51.71.
Fiataruolo and Gunderson recorded first-place finishes in small fields in the 5,000-meter run and 400-meter hurdles, respectively, for St. Olaf. Fiataruolo topped the seven-runner field in the 5,000-meter run in 15:50.81, while Gunderson did so in the four-competitor 400-meter hurdles in 59.76 seconds. The Oles had the top-four finishers in the 5,000-meter run on the day.

Matthew Nissen all added second-place performances on the track. Fisher took second in the 200-meter dash (22.66), Nemecek was second in the 400-meter dash (52.64), Estrada placed second in the 800-meter run (1:55.05), and Nissen clocked in with the day's second-best time in the 110-meter hurdles (16.40).
Junior
Dylan Arnold tied Carleton's Soren Kaster for the top clearance in the pole vault at 4.07 meters (13' 4 ¼") but finished second after missing once on the final height while Kaster did not miss. Junior
Josh Charlton and first year
Max Albertson posted second-place showings in the jumps, with Charlton doing so in the long jump (6.17m, 20' 3") and Albertson doing so in the triple jump (12.92m, 42' 4 ¾").
First year Esosa Edo-Ohanba took second in the shot put with a mark of 12.48 meters (40' 11 ½") on his final attempt, which was the top mark of his young career.
St. Olaf will head to the University of Minnesota for the Gary Wilson Invitational on Wednesday, April 24.
