Lucas Kramarczuk all won events on the final day of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, as the St. Olaf College men's track and field team completed its second runner-up finish in a row at the meet on Saturday at Bethel University's Royal Stadium.
Kelly broke the 41-year-old school record on his way to winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Bocovich won the 5,000-meter run, and Kramarczuk placed first in the triple jump to help St. Olaf cement its spot in second. The Oles earned 176 points over the two-day meet, finishing 40 points behind team champion Saint John's University and 42.5 points ahead of third-place Bethel. St. Olaf had seven All-MIAC (top-three) performances on Saturday and 12 over the two-day meet.
Kelly's winning time of 8:56.03 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase broke the program record of 8:57.36 set by David Peterson in 1982 and ranks fourth in the country this season. The junior finished just over three seconds ahead of Carter Grove of Saint John's to claim the first individual conference title of his career. Kelly had finished as the runner-up in three events during his career, placing second in both the 3,000-meter run and 5,000-meter run indoors this year and the 3,000-meter steeplechase last year.
Junior
Anders Cote joined Kelly in picking up All-MIAC honors in the event with a third-place finish in 9:07.83, which moved Cote up one spot from sixth to fifth on St. Olaf's all-time list in the event. First year
Jack Deaver claimed Honorable Mention All-MIAC laurels with a fifth-place result (9:31.05), while junior
Gabe Estrada also scored in seventh (9:45.81).
Bocovich added a conference title in the 5,000-meter run to his win in the 10,000-meter run the day before by winning the event by over nine seconds in 14:35.04. Doubling up on events after winning the steeplechase, Kelly was sixth (14:54.93) to collect Honorable Mention All-MIAC honors, as St. Olaf had five of the top-10 finishers in the event, including first year
Kevin Turlington, who scored in eighth (14:56.00).
Kramarczuk defended his indoor conference title in the triple by winning the outdoor title in the event with a jump of 14.34 meters (47' ¾"), which bumped him up from eighth to sixth on St. Olaf's all-time list. After fouling on his first jump, the senior led after each of the final five rounds of the competition and had his best jump on his fourth attempt. Kramarczuk was also the runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.49 seconds to claim another All-MIAC accolade, with junior
Demetri Lord securing Honorable Mention All-MIAC honors in fourth (15.30).
Sophomore
Cade Feist – the reigning indoor conference champion in the event – took second in the shot with a mark of 14.74 meters (48' 4 ½") on his fourth attempt. Senior
Andrew Mollison had his best throw of the day (14.66m, 48' 1 ¼") on his first attempt to take an early lead and eventually finished in the honorable mention slots in fourth.

Henry Fisher, and Lord earned All-MIAC honors in third (42.25), while the 4x400-meter relay of first year

Sebastian Loder picked up honorable mention laurels in fourth (3:20.54).
Sophomores
Layton Borst and
Dylan Arnold added honorable mention performances for the Oles, as Borst was fourth in the javelin throw (49.54m, 162' 6") and Arnold was fifth in the pole vault (5.24m, 13' 11 ¼").
St. Olaf is scheduled to send a contingent of competitors to the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier on Thursday, May 18 in the team's final chance to qualify individuals for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held May 25-27 in Rochester, N.Y.
