St. Olaf College Athletics

Edlo Solum taught women's physical education and health at St. Olaf from 1937 to 1976. She was chair of the women's physical education department from 1961 to 1965, was associate chair of the physical education department from 1965 to 1976, and became the division chair for the college in 1974. During the 1960's - when there was a gradual move toward more participation in athletics for women - Solum was instrumental in making more opportunities available for women at St. Olaf.
