A four-year letter winner in both women’s basketball and women’s tennis, Jean Tolzmann Dobyns was captain of the basketball team from 1978-1980 and captain of the tennis team in 1980. She was named Most Valuable Player for basketball for the 197-78 season and for tennis from 1977 to 1980, during which she was a two-time regional tennis champion at #1 singles. She also played a year of varsity volleyball. Dobyns earned her master of art and teaching degree at the University of St. Thomas in 1983. A math teacher, she has coached several high school tennis and basketball teams. She lives in Iowa City, Iowa.
