A three-year letter winner for cross country and track and field, Jan Ensrud Whitney earned All-American cross country honors in 1978, 1979, and 1980 and All-American track honors in 1978. She was track and field’s Most Valuable Player in 1978 and 1979 – and a member of the Blue Key Honor Society and Phi Beta Kappa. In 1984 she earned a Masters of Arts and Teaching in chemistry from Indiana University. She taught at Inver Hills Community College and at Apple Valley and South St. Paul High Schools before moving with her family to Hingham, Mass., where she is a high school tutor and active in church activities.
